Our charming cabin is nestled in among the trees on a large wooded parcel a few blocks from Lake Tahoe in the quaint little community of Tahoma. It is child-safe, pet-friendly and smoke-free.
Inside: Our cabin is 1100 sq. ft. and comfortable and informal. The kitchen has every kind of appliance you can imagine: coffee maker, coffee grinder (so bring your own beans!) waffle iron, juicer, popcorn popper, crock pot, salad spinner, cork screw, bottle opener, electric frying pan (for pancakes at the breakfast table), hand and table model electric mixer, dish-washer, garbage disposal, microwave, toaster. There are plenty of big pots and pans, salad bowls and casserole dishes if you are cooking for a gang. Take the hibachi outside to use it. There are also staples such as sugar, salt, pepper, spices, cooking oil, etc. in the cabinets, and of course, dishes. Cleaning supplies and extras are either under the sink or above the refrigerator. The range is electric.
There is a washer and dryer in the entryway as well as a locker for skis and boots.
The living room has a wood-burning stove, but there is also a forced-air gas furnace, so it's not necessary to tend a fire. The television includes a VCR, DVD player and CD player. There are plenty of videos and DVDs. There is a radio with a tape recorder. There is a phone answering machine next to the telephone. Below the phone cabinet are several informative binders and brochures about things to do at Tahoe.
One bathroom has a tub and shower, the other has a shower. There is a hair-dryer in one bathroom. There are electric wall heaters in both bathrooms.
Alarm clocks are in the bedrooms. Extra blankets and linens are stored in the bedrooms as well. There is a cabinet with games such as Monopoly and Yatzee in the back bedroom. One bedroom has a bookcase loaded with novels, and books about things of local interest: trees, birds, flowers, local history. Writing paper is in the desk drawer. A chess board is set up in this room as well. There is a box of toys for a toddler in the bedroom with the crib. There is also a booster seat, a pack for carrying a baby, and several chairs sized for the under-5 crowd.
Within walking distance, you will find a country market, a fine bistro, a pizzeria, a post office, a coffee bar, rental shops for sporting equipment and movies, and a mountain inn serving meals. Also within walking distance is our private homeowners white sand beach and pier, available to guests, with buoys that may be rented during summer.
Our neighborhood park has a playground, picnic tables, and barbecues. On summer Sundays, it offers outdoor non-denominational church services, and on Saturday nights, there are free movies suitable for children. Concerts and day camps are also scheduled during summer months. It is available to rent for receptions or parties.
